Getting Started with Scheduled Bookmarks
Welcome to Scheduled Bookmarks! This tutorial will walk you through the key features of the app and help you get set up to manage your bookmarks on a schedule.
Sign Up
Getting started with Scheduled Bookmarks is quick and easy:
- Visit the login page - Navigate to the login page from the homepage
- Sign in with Google - Click the “Sign in with Google” button to authenticate using your Google account
- Grant permissions - Allow the app to access your basic profile information
- Automatic redirect - After successful authentication, you’ll be automatically redirected to the main app at
/app
Your account is tied to your Google email address, and all your bookmark data will be securely stored and associated with this email.
Create a Category
Categories help you organize your bookmarks into logical groups. Here’s how to create your first category:
- Navigate to Manage - From the main app, click on “Manage Bookmarks” or use the navigation to go to
/app/manage
- Click “Add Category” - Look for the blue “Add Category” button in the top-right corner of the page
- Enter category details - In the modal that opens:
- Name: Enter a descriptive name for your category (e.g., “Work”, “Daily News”, “Social Media”)
- Category names must be unique
- Save the category - Click “Save” to create your new category
Your new category will appear as a card on the manage page, ready for you to add bookmarks to it.
Add a Bookmark
Once you have a category, you can start adding bookmarks with custom schedules:
- Find your category - On the manage page, locate the category card where you want to add a bookmark
- Click “Add Bookmark” - Click the “Add Bookmark” button on the category card
- Fill in bookmark details - In the bookmark modal:
- Title: Enter a descriptive name for the bookmark
- URL: Enter the full URL (including https://). It’s best to just copy and paste this from your URL bar
- Category: The category is pre-selected, but you can change it to any existing category
- Schedule: Set when this bookmark should appear using these controls:
- Start Date: Choose when the bookmark schedule begins (defaults to today)
- End Date (Optional): Set when the bookmark schedule should stop
- Repeat every: Choose frequency and interval:
- Select a number (1, 2, 3, etc.) for how often
- Choose from “Day(s)”, “Week(s)”, or “Month(s)”
- Examples: “1 Day(s)” = daily, “2 Week(s)” = every other week, “3 Month(s)” = quarterly
- Additional options based on your selection:
- Weekly: Select which days of the week (Mon, Tue, Wed, etc.)
- Monthly: Choose which day of the month (1st, 15th, 31st, etc.)
- A preview of your schedule will appear at the bottom showing exactly when the bookmark will be visible
- Save the bookmark - Click “Save” to add the bookmark to your category
Your bookmark will now appear in the category table with its title, URL, and schedule information. You can edit or delete bookmarks anytime by using the action buttons in the bookmark table.
Using Your Scheduled Bookmarks
After setting up your categories and bookmarks:
- View scheduled bookmarks - Visit
/app
to see bookmarks scheduled for today - Navigate dates - Use the arrow buttons or keyboard shortcuts (left/right arrows) to view different dates
- Open bookmarks - Click individual bookmark links or use “Open All” buttons to open multiple bookmarks at once
- Manage your collection - Switch to manage mode (
/app/manage
) to add, edit, or delete categories and bookmarks - Adjust preferences - Visit
/app/preferences
to update your timezone and other settings
The app is designed to work as your browser homepage or new tab page, showing you exactly the bookmarks you need for each day based on your custom schedules.
